Aqua Adventures Kayak Center in San Diego, California is first and foremost a kayak school offering comprehensive kayaking lessons and instruction. Led by Jen Kleck, one of the top sea kayaking instructors in the country, all of our instructors are certified by both the American Canoe Association (ACA) and the British Canoe Union (BCU). We teach sea kayaking, whitewater kayaking, kayak surfing, and rock garden paddling. No other school in southern California offers the breadth of experience, knowledge, and ability that we do!

Learn 2 Kayak Day The perfect class for those who "just want to try kayaking out". If you want to sort out the differences, advantages, and applications of all the various types of kayaks including sit-on-top, recreational, and touring kayaks, this is the class for you. Don't buy a kayak before you take this class! |

Kayaking Basics While you can't do justice to such a diverse sport in a mere four hours, this class will give you basics quickly. We place a strong emphasis on kayaking safety so you can rent and explore independently with confidence. Topics include basic strokes, braces, capsize recovery, and kayaking safety. |

Sea Kayaking 1 An introduction to the wonderful world of sea kayaking by expert instructors. Graduates will be qualified to rent decked sea kayaks in calm, protected water, to participate in many of our guided trips, and to take higher level classes. Sea Kayaking 3 Your introduction to the dynamic world of the open ocean taught by expert instructors in beautiful La Jolla! Comprehensive Weekend Our most popular class, our Comprehensive Weekend has been revamped and renamed. Look for it as Sea Kayaking 1 and Sea Kayaking 3 on consecutive days. This is an accelerated intensive introduction to the diverse sport of kayaking! We'll take you from your first strokes to adventurous coastal exploration in one weekend. |

The POOL Eskimo Roll A perfect setting to learn and practice "wet" skills like capsize recovery, bracing, or Eskimo rolling. The second and fourth Wednesday of every month from 7-9 pm at a heated, indoor pool! Heaven! Practice for only $25. Instruction is $100. |

Eskimo Rolling We teach this important skill in a 2 hour class in a heated indoor pool on a 1:2 basis. Learning to Eskimo roll is fun! We also offer group practice sessions (see "The POOL")

Sea Kayak Leadership An intensive course for experienced paddlers who journey with groups on the open ocean. We focus on group awareness, risk assessment, and risk management. |

Forward Stroke Clinic A full day course class focusing on an efficient forward stroke so you can paddle farther and longer, with less fatigue and less risk of injury. The magic of this class is extensive video feedback that allows you to learn quickly! Guest instructor and national champion Brent Reitz visits us a couple times a year to teach this special class. |

Introduction to Whitewater Kayaking We introduce moving water and the fundamental skills that allow you to navigate whitewater rapids in a kayak: ferries, eddy turns, peel outs, and more. If you don't know how to Eskimo roll, you'll use a sit-on-top kayak - like rafting but so much more fun! Taught on class I to II+ whitewater. |

Intermediate Whitewater The next step for those who have taken our Introduction to Whitewater Course. We'll continue to improve our skills on class II to III whitewater. |

Surf Zone Survival Learn how to launch and land a sea kayak through the surf zone safely and confidently. |

Surf Kayaking Learn how to ride the waves in "short boats"! Using river kayaks or surf-specific kayaks we'll learn the art of riding waves. |

Skills Development Take your skills to the next level with weekly practice under the watchful eye of a good coach. Some previous instruction is required, but all levels are welcome! |

Capsize Recovery For those who have been paddling sit-on-tops and would like to use sit-in kayaks. We'll learn assisted and solo recovery techniques so you can rent our closed cockpit kayaks. |

Practical Navigation This class provides hands on instruction in practical navigation from a kayak. We teach you how to read nautical chart, use hand-held and deck compasses, and calculate tides, distance, and speed. |

Night Navigation We’ll head down to San Diego Bay to learn the nuances of navigating at night. This is a component of BCU 5 Star award. |
