Kayak Local Tours
Our fun local tours are led by experienced guides with an excellent guide-to-guest ratio.
You don't need any kayaking experience to participate in our local tours - we'll show you what you need to know. Besides, a little enthusiasm and a sense of adventure go a long way!
Minimum age is 6 yrs. Children under 14 yrs must be in a tandem kayak paddled by an adult. Minimum size is 50 lbs to fit our life jackets. Parents may provide their own appropriate life jacket for children under 50 lbs.
During cooler weather, wetsuits or windbreakers may be appropriate and these are available to rent from Aqua Adventures Kayak Center for $5.
To explore Mission Bay on your own, we offer kayak rentals right at our docks. We have easy-to-use sit-on-top kayaks for beginners, high performance sea kayaks for experienced paddlers, and everything in between.
Thursday evenings from May 1st through October 31st, we host a social kayak tour at Aqua Adventures on Mission Bay. No experience necessary!
This is a great way to try kayaking for the first time, or to get out on the water on a regular basis and meet other kayakers. Attending a few of these tours will help prepare you for longer kayak trips. These paddles are FREE if you provide your own kayak and gear, or just $15/person for kayak rental. This is a "show go" event - reservations are not accepted.
From May 1st through October 31st.

Enjoy the sparkling magic of Mission Bay by kayak under a full moon!
We will be paddling out of Aqua Adventures and will paddle for approximately 90 minutes at a comfortable pace for most paddlers.
Actual course for this trip will be determined on the day of event based on weather conditions, but will be in the bay. We are not planning on paddling towards the ocean on this trip.
If you have your own equipment there is no fee to join. So come out and paddle out with us. If you are bringing your own equipment you must bring your own flashlight! A white flashlight is a Coast Guard requirement after dark. These are available for purchase at Aqua Adventures if you don't have your own.
Paddlers of all skill levels are welcome. We provide a safe and fun environment where all paddlers can enjoy the trip at their own pace and level in a safe group environment. There are stand up paddleboards and kayaks available to rent for those who do not have their own equipment to bring on this trip. So invite a friend and introduce them to the lifestyle. PFD's and lights are provided with vessel rental.

This special event is a San Diego classic!
Join us on the 4th of July for one of our favorite traditions. We'll take you on a kayak tour of Mission Bay under the stars, and then...BOOM, BANG, BOOM...the fireworks displays starts. We'll get to see several shows from a distance, including downtown, with the grand finale being our exciting front row seats to the Sea World show! Afterwards, as we paddle leisurely back to the docks, we may get to see some California sea lions, shore birds, and the bioluminesence--an underwater fireworks show courtesy of Mother Nature.
Your reservation includes an optiopnal BBQ (burgers and hot dogs on the grill) at the shop (5:00-6:30pm) so you can come early and avoid the traffic. The big dirt parking lots across the street from our shop are the ONLY place on the bay with parkingon the fourth!
This is a great tour for the whole family and no experience is necessary. Expect to be driving home at about 10:30pm. In addition to our "what to bring" list (see sidebar), we suggest bringing towels or small fleece "throws", especially if you have kids - it lets them wrap up and be cozy!
